Arla Foods Launches Dairy Farmer Give-Back Program
It’s no news that low farmgate milk prices around the world are making life difficult for the world’s dairy farmers. A cooperative in the United Kingdom, Arla Foods, recently launched a new brand of milk allowing consumers to give back to farmers directly through their milk purchase. According to DairyReporter.com, the new brand gives 32 cents per bottle back to farmers. The news service reports the milk will be available starting July 12 for $1.56 per four-pint bottle. By comparison, a four-pint bottle of generic milk costs $1.23 in the country. Time will tell how consumers in the UK respond.
