Aussies Put Together Aid Package for Dairy Farmers
The Australian government and the Victorian dairy industry have put together an $8.2 million aid package for dairy farmers to help them weather current low milk prices.
The government is supplying about 55% of the funds, with the balance coming from various industry sources. The money will be used to provide expanded financial decision making tools, and confidential financial and mental health counseling.
Of the government’s portion of the package, a little over $3 million has been set aside to support local dairy farming communities.
