California Accepting Applications for Dairy Digester Funding

 |  By: Jim Dickrell

The California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) is now accepting applications for dairy methane digesters funding, with grants of up to $3 million per project. Each project must be able to demonstrate a quantifiable reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.

To qualify, existing dairy farmers must have at least 50% of total project costs as matching funds. The state, through the Dairy Research and Development Program, will award between $29 million and $36 million for the installation of dairy digesters. Applications are due June 28, 2017.

CDFA is holding two workshops and one webinar to provide information on the application process. The first workshop will be held in Sacramento May 12 and the second in Tulare May 15. The webinar is scheduled for May 16.
