California Federal Order Caught Up in Trump Transition

 |  By: Jim Dickrell

The California Milk Producers Council (MPC) is reporting that the California Federal Milk Marketing Order has been delayed due to President Trump’s transition.

Geoff Vanden Heuvel, MPC Board member and economics consultant, cites unnamed sources that California Federal Order language was poised for publication in the Federal Register before January 20th, but was pulled back in lieu of the transition. Publication in the Federal Register is the next step in the long process of enacting the order.

USDA is apparently waiting for the confirmation of Sonny Perdue as the next Secretary of Agriculture. Perdue’s confirmation process isn’t expected to occur until later this month.

What’s also unclear is President Trump’s executive order on new government regulations, which requires government agencies eliminate two regulations for each new regulation they create.
