California Postpones Dairy Quota Hearing

 |  By: Jim Dickrell

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the California Department of Food and Agriculture has postponed its scheduled hearing on the state’s dairy quota program “until state and local health officials have determined it safe to do so.”

The hearing, on Chapter 3.5 of the California Food and Agricultural Code that allows the state authority to collect quota assessments to fund the program, had been scheduled for April 7 and 8 in Visalia.

Stop QIP, a farmer-led organization opposed to the quota program, had garnered enough signatures on a petition to challenge Chapter 3.5.

The notice postponing the hearing can be seen here.
