Dairy Farmer Wins $29,000 from the IRS

Randy Sowers, a dairy farmer from Maryland, was fined by the IRS for restructuring $295,220 in bank deposits to avoid taxes, according to the Washington Post. After several months of court battles and testifying before Congress, Sowers agreed to the IRS taking 10% of the money he was accused of restructuring, $29,000 from his bank account as a fine for tax evasion. In 2014 the IRS changed the penalty for the incident, recently Sowers petitioned to have his fine returned to him. He won.
