Dairy Report Highlights China's Export Deal

On this week’s Dairy Report our reporting partners at AgDay share the news that the United States and China signed a fresh memorandum, allowing the U.S. dairy industry to export more products to China. The latest drought monitor shows increasing drought in the Midwest. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) says that 15% of the nation’s alfalfa hay acreage is within an area of drought. Read more here

Dairy Farm workers are calling out ice cream maker Ben and Jerry’s, for better pay and living conditions on farms that supply milk to the facility. Ben and Jerry’s is an advocate for social activism. In 2015 they joined the program, Milk with Dignity, but are still negotiating the terms of the agreement.
