House Leadership Promises Vote on Dairy Guest Worker Program
Leadership of the U.S. House of Representatives has promised it will bring a combination of the AG Act and the Legal Workforce Act to the House Floor yet this month.
The AG Act includes the H2C guest worker program, which would allow foreign-born workers to remain in the United States for up to 36 months on a renewable visa, though they would be required to return to their home countries to meet “touch back” requirements during that period. The H2C visa would give legal documentation status both to existing workers already here and establish quotas for new workers.
Laurie Fischer, CEO of the American Dairy Coalition, is urging dairy farmers to immediately contact their House Representatives. "The dairy industry cannot afford to let this opportunity go by,” she says. “We must all contact our Republican Members of the House and let them know they must address the agriculture labor crisis during this Congress.”
