Is Immigrant Labor Really "Deport Proof"?

At a recent round table discussion on farm labor President Trump announced that he would keep his tough immigration enforcement policies from harming the U.S. farm industry and its largely immigrant workforce. These comments were welcome news to the 14 ag industry representatives meeting with the President and newly-appointed Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue.

Ag groups continue to be concerned about ongoing labor issues, including uncertainty around access to a stable immigrant workforce. The President's crackdown on illegal immigrants is focused on those with criminal activity, but has recently cut a larger swath that includes those without a criminal background.
