May All-Milk Price Down 50 Cents

The United States Department of Agriculture reported today that the May All-Milk price at $14.50/cwt, down 50¢/cwt since April and $2.30/cwt from a year ago. The highest reported All-Milk price was in Florida, at $18.30. But this is also down $2.20 from a year ago.

California’s All-Milk price came in at $12.92/cwt, down 71¢ from April and down $2.20 from a year ago. The next lowest state was Michigan, at $13.50/cwt.

Wisconsin’s All-Milk price was $14.70/cwt; New York’s, $15.80, and Texas, $14.90.

The value of dairy cows has also taken a hit, with the average price now at $1,820/head, down $150 from a year ago. A California cow now averages just $1,800. A Wisconsin cow averages $1,910.
