Total Fluid Milk Sales Decline While Organic Sales Increase

 |  By: Anna-Lisa Laca

USDA released the estimated fluid milk sales for June on Wednesday. Fluid milk consumption continues to decline while organic milk sales increase. According to USDA, 3.8 billion pounds of fluid milk were sold in June. That is 1.4% less than the year before. Organic milk sales increased 6.7% year-over year. Organic whole milk led the increase: 78 million pounds of organic fluid milk were sold in June. That’s a 16.3% increase year-over-year.

One highlight of conventional fluid consumption is the other fluid milk products category. Companies continue to innovate, creating drinks that include fluid milk. That innovation shows in the June data. Sales of “other fluid milk products” have increased 49.3% this year.
