USDA Releases Class Prices Amid Government Shutdown

 |  By: Anna-Lisa Laca

Last week USDA Agricultural Marketing Service released the December class prices despite the ongoing government shutdown. This milk price report is one of just a few reports still being released while USDA is closed.

For the month of December 2018:

The Class II price was $15.67 per cwt, up $0.04 from the previous month.

The Class III rice was $13.78 per cwt down $0.66 from the previous month.

The Class IV price was $15.09 per cwt up $0.03 from the previous month.

As a result of the way in which certain AMS programs, including the Federal Milk Marketing Order are funded, a lapse in appropriations does not impact their operations.
