Which State Lost The Most Dairies In 2018?

#5. Michigan – In 2017, there were 1,750 licensed dairies in the state. In 2018, there were 1,520, a difference of 230 farms.

 

#4. Minnesota – In 2017, there were 3,210 licensed dairies in the state. In 2018, there were 2,980, meaning 230 farms went out of business.

 

#3. New York – In 2017, the state had 4,470 dairies. In 2018, only 4,190 were still in business, meaning 280 closed last year.

 

#2. Pennsylvania – In 2017, there were 6,570 licensed farms in the state. In 2018, there were 6,200 farms in the state meaning 370 went out of business.

 

#1. Wisconsin – In 2018, the state lost 590 dairies. There were 9,090 in 2017 and just 8,500 in 2018.
