Wisconsin Dairy Farmers Fear Immigrant Deportations
Dairy farmers from Random Lake to Elmwood, Wisconsin are feeling uneasy about the possibility of immigrant worker deportations, reports the Milwaukee Journal.
“If you remove Mexican labor, farms would go out of business. That’s a given,” says John Rosenow, who milks 550 cows with Hispanic labor in Buffalo county.
In fact, says Rosenow, one farm is considering liquidating its 1,000 cows before more farms are forced to depopulate due to worker shortages and a flood of cows coming to market.
