December Milk Prices Announced

 |  By: Know Your Market

By Mike North

As part of the milk pricing system price averages are announced monthly and calculated as a function of product prices through the given period. On Thursday USDA announced average prices for product for the month of December.  Milk prices for the month of December rose slightly across all classes. Class II was reported at $15.26/CWT, Class III $17.40/CWT, Class IV $14.97/ CWT.

Futures did not reflect such levels. Class III markets were down 10-15 cents out through the end of the year and Class IV was also a quiet market. This could have something to do with the lack of buyers and sellers in yesterday’s CME spot session.
